The Curbar 2 is a well-rounded mountain bike ready for the trails, your commute or family outing. Equipped with 18 speed Shimano gears as a 2 x 9 drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes and a 100mm SR Suntour lockout fork. Arguably the most capable bike for beginner mountain bikers or regular leisure riders within the Curbar line up.
What is smart sizing and why don't you offer 29" wheels in 14" and 17" sizes?
We design our bikes to "fit" both the riders size, ergonomics and also the ride requirements for each style of bike we produce. For leisure and general trail riding we believe the 27.5" wheels equipped on our 14" and 17" frame sizes offer the best balance between optimum handling and resposivity, whilst 29" wheels are proportionally sized for larger frames.
What is the difference between 27.5" and 29" wheels?
The primary consideration is whether you’ll appreciate the playful, precise feel of 27.5˝ wheels, or the speed and rollover capabilities of a 29er. 27.5 in. wheels have faster acceleration while 29ers are more efficient on longer rides. Smaller wheels accelerate faster than larger wheels. This is due mostly to where the weight of the wheel is distributed. Larger wheels place the weight of the spokes, rims, tubes and tires farther from the centre of the wheel, resulting in higher rotational mass and slower acceleration. When you cut down on the rotational mass of a rolling object it will roll faster and with more ease. 27.5”: Faster acceleration is often cited as one of the biggest benefits of a 27.5” wheel when compared to a 29” wheel. Wheels that accelerate faster give a bike a snappy, responsive feel that many riders desire. 29”: Wheels that accelerate slower take longer to get up to speed, possibly giving the bike an unresponsive feel. However, once the larger wheels reach top speed, they’re actually more efficient for longer rides than smaller wheels because they require less effort to keep their momentum going.
Can I fit a dropper seat post to a Curbar?
Of course. The seat post diameter is 30.9mm but you can only fit a dropper post with external cable routing as the Curbar frame currently does not have stealth dropper routing.

We use a handful of factories for our range depending on the price point and category. This helps us to achieve the highest quality and value for each price point.
Our bikes are designed and tested in Derbyshire and the Peak District, England. They are then manufactured and assembled in Asia.
Almost every brand uses Asia-based production of frames and components as they are the global leaders of high-quality bicycle production. Some other high-quality brands claim to be made in Europe although they are usually only assembled in Europe. By working with our partner factories in Asia we are able to scale up our production as we grow, offer more competitive prices and deliver bikes to our retailers more frequently.
