For the wild, freedom-loving adventurers! The Curbar Junior mountain bike is built to handle twisty terrain without holding back. Get outdoors and have fun!
Transitioning through the different sizes of Junior bikes can be quite a challenge, especially with children notoriously riding larger bikes. With this in mind we wanted to create mini MTB bikes built to last with 'all-rounder' and confidence boosting features such as wider tyres, a suspension fork and a wider, over-sized handlebar and stem.
We sell our bikes exclusively via over 300 specialist bicycle retailers throughout the UK. You can find your nearest retailer using our dealer locator. Learn more about why we support local bike shops here.
What's the difference between MTB and ATB?
An ATB or All Terrain Bike is synonymous with a hybrid bicycle. All our Kinder & Cubley bikes are ATB's capable of use on road and most off road use.
MTB's or mountain bikes usually feature a front and sometimes rear suspension. They are intended for more technical off road riding.
We only supply MTB's equipped with a suspension from a 24" wheel upwards. Sometimes cheaper children's bike provide bikes with a suspension below a 24" wheel size. They may look cool but usually only make it more difficult to ride by adding unnecessary weight.
Should I buy a bike my child can grow in to?
Our recommendation is to buy a bike which fits the best at the time. It's always tempting to buy a bike a child will grow in to in attempt to make is last as long as possible. This is completely understandable when you consider how many times a child will need a new bike between toddler and teen!
Our sizing guide shows a range of inseam lengths for each wheel size. If you're buying a new bike we recommend selecting a wheel size equal or up to 1cm longer than the minimum inseam measurement.
As our bikes hold their value very well, many of our specialist retailers will often provide a return and replace scheme as your child is ready for the next wheel size. We also partner thebikeclub.co.uk who offer a monthly subscription service enabling you to replace the bike as soon as they grow to reach the next wheel size so your child will always have the right size bike.
What should I look out for when buying a kids bike?
Fit and product longevity are the most important factors for your child to get the most out of their riding experience in a hassle free manner.
When comparing bikes from different brands there's actually a lot to look out for! We have tried to help you identify all the individual performance benefits on our product pages.
Where are your bikes made?
We use a handful of factories for our range depending on the price point and category. This helps us to achieve the highest quality and value for each price point.
Our bikes are designed and tested in Derbyshire and the Peak District, England. They are then manufactured and assembled in Asia.
Almost every brand uses Asia-based production of frames and components as they are the global leaders of high-quality bicycle production. Some other high-quality brands claim to be made in Europe although they are usually only assembled in Europe. By working with our partner factories in Asia we are able to scale up our production as we grow, offer more competitive prices and deliver bikes to our retailers more frequently.
